What you need to do for five days of Hajj
Find information on three different types of Hajj the Qiraan, Tamattu and Ifraad.

Qiraan Hajj
If you wish to performs Hajj-e-Qiraan. The Qiraan is the performance of Hajj and Umrah. You enter the state with ihraam that the intention of performing both Umrah and Hajj with only single ihraam is adopted for both. Once you reached Makkah, first you must performs Umrah and thereafter perform Hajj in the same ihraam; hence you need to remain in the same ihraam till the end of Hajj.

Tamattu Hajj
If you wish to performs Hajj-e-Tamattu. The Tamattu is the performance of Umrah. You enter the state with ihraam that the intention of performing Umrah only. After the completion of Umrah, you must remove this ihraam and another ihraam is adopted before 8th Zul Hijjah with the intention of performing the Hajj.

Ifraad Hajj
If you wish to performs Hajj-e-Ifraad. For the Ifraad you enter the state with ihraam the intention of performing Hajj only. You do not combine it with Umrah. After adopting the ihraam, you will remain under the restrictions until the end of Hajj.

First day the 8th Zul Hijjah
On the eighth day you put on Ihraam and go from Makkah to Mina. You stay the whole day and night in Mina reading and praying and preparing yourself to go to Arafat. You read salaath Dhuhr and 'Asr shortened two Rak'ahs (units) each, Maghrib three Rak'ahs and 'Ishaa shortened to two Rak'ahs. (Musafir salaath)

Second day the 9th Zul Hijjah
This day is known as Yawm 'Arafah, after reading Salaatul-Fajr in Minaa, you wait until just after the sunrise, then you go from Mina to Arafah which you should enter around noon. In Arafah you read Salaatul-Dhuhr and Salaatul-'Asr shortened. Then you should wait in Arafah until just after sunset, then go to Muzdalifah (an area between 'Arafah and Minaa). There you should read Maghrib and 'Ishaa together with 'Ishaa shortened, you must collect forty nine small stones for the Jamrah then spend the rest of the night in praying and little sleep.

Third day the 10th Zul Hijjah
This day is known as 'Eid al-Ad-haa. You should read salaatul-Fajr in Muzdalifah, then leave Muzdalifah for Mina shortly before sunrise. With seven small stones go to the largest Jamrah. As you throw each stone at the Jamrah you should say Allahu Akbar. On completion of the stoning you should clip or shave your head and take off your Ihraam. Then you go to the place where animals are kept and slaughter an animal if you are making a Hajj Qiraan or Hajj Tamattu'. After that you go to Makkah and do seven round of the Ka'bah known as Tawaaf al-Ifaadah, then returns to Mina and spends the rest of the night.

Fourth day the 11th Zul Hijjah
On this day you should read Fajr in Mina and wait until after Dhuhr then you should go for the three Jamrahs, for each one seven stones, you should have in total twenty one stones. Start with Jamratul-Oolaa then al-Wustaa and al-Aqabah.

Fifth day the 12th Zul Hijjah
You do as you did on the 11th and on the completion of the stoning, After completing the stoning you should then perform the farewell Tawaaf of the Ka'bah before leaving Makkah. Labbayk, Allahumma Labbayk! Labbayka, Laa shareeka laka labbayk. Innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, laa shareeka lak (Here I am, O Allah, here I am You have no partner; here I am! You alone deserve all praise and gratitude! To you belong all favors, blessings and Sovereignty and You have no partner.)

After Hajj
The quality and your sincerity of intention should remain inside your heart even after the performance of Hajj. There should be no expose or reveal. You should not wish to be called or recognised as a Hajji sab. Many people adopt the habit of talking frequently about their journey in order that people may come to know of their Hajj. This is deceit from Shaytaan who ruins the ibaadah of the person who is unaware of it. Therefore a great importance that you do not talk about Hajj without necessity, as it may lead to riyaa (show, insincerity). However, if necessity arises and you must talk about your Hajj, then you are at liberty to do so. It is noted through vast experience, that many pilgrims return with nothing but the sad memories to reflect upon, and this darkness filters through their tongues to the extent that they talk only about the hardships they have encountered during Hajj. The pilgrims should strictly refrain from this. On the contrary, they should talk about the greatness of the sacred places, the spiritual gains, the enjoyment and love in devotions of Haramayn --Umrah, tawaaf, salaam on the Sacred Grave, Salaat in Al Masjidul Haraam and Masjidun Nabawi, etc. If one looks at his journey of Hajj carefully he will find that the spiritual benefits far outweighs the physical hardships. Every second spent in these sacred places is incomparable with anything in the world. The journey of Hajj is a long journey; hence, difficulties are certain to arise. When you travel in your country, do you always travel with comfort and ease? Do you never encounter difficulty? Considering the fact that 2-3 million pilgrims perform the rituals of Hajj at one time, Don't you think the difficulties encountered are insignificant. Moreover, the pilgrims are rewarded abundantly by Allah ta'aalaa upon every difficulty encountered in their journey, whereas the same is not the case whilst you undertake other journeys.

Those people who engage in these types of conversation become the cause of discouragement to others who have not yet had the opportunity to perform Hajj. These unfortunate pilgrims fall into the category …and who stop (men) from the way of Allah, and from the Sacred Masjid, mentioned in Soorah Hajj in the Qur'aan. They should take heed that if people are discouraged by their conversation and postpone their Hajj, then those who have discouraged them will be equally responsible.

The sign of a 'Mabroor Hajj' or 'accepted Hajj' is that upon one's return, your life changes from worst to good. You become totally punctual in fulfilling the commands of Allah ta'aalaa. The love and inclination towards the Hereafter increases and love for the worldly pleasures decline. Therefore, it is essential that the pilgrim should endeavour to fulfil the obligations laid down by Allah and avoid all things forbidden by Him. Ameen.
